Why I love being a Landscape photographer in Shimla

Being a Landscape photographer in Shimla is a natural process to start photography for someone like me who is born and brought up in this beautiful Shivalik Himalayan range.

When I picked my first camera,  landscape photography was my most enjoyable form of photography.

To date, I haven’t found any photographer who would say s/he don’t love to shoot landscapes. Who doesn’t want love to go outside to breathe the fresh air and be close to nature?

For me, who was born and bought up in the queen of hills, Shimla, falling in love with landscape photography was natural.

I have witnessed the cold winter morning with snow all around to the lively spring when the full bloom of red rhododendron tree color the entire valley red. The rainy season in the mountains has its unique charm when clouds kiss the valley and cast a spell of their own.

Who on Earth would miss the opportunities to photograph such a magical natural scene.

I don’t think everyone is fortunate enough to witness and visit such beautiful locations on Earth and photograph them.

What I love about being a landscape photographer.

1. Beautiful subject to shoot.

Landscape photography provides me with a subject beautiful subject, and I don’t have to rely on somebody to stand in for me. I need to grab my camera gear and set out to shoot.

I shoot single location as endless opportunities are there location changes with time of the day and seasons in a year.

2. Connect with nature.

I carry my camera every time with me, but while going for landscape photography, there is another thrill that weighs high on my mind, the connection with nature, here at my place in the Himalayas, breathing fresh air and hearing the pines whistling is sweet music to ears.

Witnessing nature is the best thing to do; shooting sunrise, sunset, moonrise over these hills is mesmerizing; it’s the best medicine to have.

3. Timeless Memories.

Landscape photography offers me to travel back in time to the places I have been. Whenever I look at my photos that I have captured traveling in the Himalayan mountains away from home, it just takes me back to that moment that setting that euphoria is priceless and timeless.

My photography has evolved as a hobby over the last decade, but shooting landscapes is my first love. I am fortunate to be a Landscape photographer in Shimla because this place has so much to offer to me that it won’t be possible to shoot its magical colors and contours in a lifetime.
